A trichoscope is a magnifying camera that shows the scalp and hair roots up close, so you can see oil, flakes, redness, follicle openings and the mix of thick and fine hairs. It helps a consultant explain what is happening and gives you before-and-after images to track change, but it is not a medical diagnosis.
What we look for
Hair thickness variation, empty follicles, oil and build-up, redness and flaking.
Tracking progress
Repeat images of the same spots every few weeks show change more fairly than mirror checks.
Limits
Scalp disease, scarring or sudden patches need a doctor's assessment.
Questions
Does it hurt?
No, the camera just touches the scalp.
Can I keep the photos?
Ask your consultant; they can share them with you.
