Hair and diet: common myths
Answer first

A balanced diet with enough protein, iron and other nutrients supports normal hair growth, but no single food or supplement regrows pattern hair loss. Mega-doses of supplements can even harm, so test for deficiencies with a doctor and focus on regular, varied meals.

Myth: biotin fixes everything

Biotin helps only if you are deficient, which is uncommon; high doses can also affect some lab tests.

Myth: more protein is always better

You need enough, not extreme amounts. Crash diets are a common cause of shedding.

What helps

Regular meals, protein at each meal, iron-rich foods, fruit and vegetables, and checking with a doctor if you diet strictly.

Questions

Should I take a hair supplement?

Only to fix a known gap; ask a doctor or pharmacist.

Can crash diets cause hair loss?

Yes, rapid weight loss can trigger shedding a few months later.
